Bird Management Services
New York’s greater Hudson Valley has many species of “pest” birds such as Pigeons, Sparrows, Starlings, Canada Geese, and Gulls that have thrived in human habitats with a virtually unlimited food supply and no natural predators. Their overpopulation has caused a variety of problems.
Proper identification of the nuisance bird and understanding the attributes of the property are important in determining how committed a bird is to a particular roost and how committed they may be to regain access to their former territory once excluded or deterred. In the bird world, this commitment is referred to as Bird Pressure. There are three levels of Bird Pressure to consider, High Pressure, Medium Pressure and Low Pressure.
Bird Busters® realizes it’s important to not only understand the bird species, their commitment to the space, but clearly understand the client’s goals and objectives. In order to ensure that we create the most effective bird management system, Bird Busters® has created a comprehensive six-step process:
1. Client Interview: We begin with a client interview to understand the major issues and overall goals of the client and what type of access we can obtain to the facility. We realize that certain commercial accounts prefer our services to be conducted outside of normal business hours or within specific time frames given work flow and customer interaction. We can accommodate implementing a bird deterrent system during non-business hours.
2. Bird Identification: Birds are creatures of habit and their actions are driven by their need to find food, water, and shelter for themselves and their young, but this doesn’t mean that they all behave in the same manner. Some birds are migratory, some birds move in large flocks and some birds are monogamous. Birds will respond differently to the bird control systems we design. Therefore, proper identification of the nuisance bird species is imperative to designing the most effective humane bird deterrent system.
3. Site Inspection: A thorough inspection and assessment of the environmental and structural conditions of the commercial property is key in understanding your bird nuisance situation. We look to identify the problem areas and the level of bird pressure or commitment to the space. We look to understand the surrounding area and the best method to professionally and humanely resolve your bird nuisance. During the inspection we identify several factors. Is there a food and water source on the property? Are there physical attributes to the structure that provide a protective haven, including ledges, on signs, in rafters, etc? Are there alternative sites for the bird nuisances to move to once excluded and are there other flocks in the area that may attempt to over take the roost?
4. Create a Bird Control System: Once we understand your unique bird removal circumstance, we utilize the information to determine what would be the most effective bird control system to implement using a combination of bird exclusion materials and bird deterrents.
5. De-contaminate and Sanitize: De-contaminating and sanitizing your commercial building is key to ensuring that bird droppings and bird nesting materials do not reek havoc on your business. Properly removing and cleaning your commercial property will avoid putting your business at risk of exposing you, your staff, customers and or clients to health hazards, opening yourself up to slip and fall risks, and the possibility of clogging drains which can contaminate water or create fire risks, to destroying your inventory and building components. Be safe. Be clean and protect your image.
6. Monitor and Evaluate: Bird Busters® is committed to being with you every step of the way and realizes the importance of monitoring, evaluating and making adjustments as necessary. We provide quarterly inspections to ensure that our bird exclusion and bird deterrent systems effectively resolve your bird control circumstance.
